Ten people jumped into the water and were rescued as a sailboat slammed into rocks Wednesday in Avalon in Cape May County, the mayor said. Some of the people were rescued by lifeguards on jet skis while others were pulled from the choppy ocean by a rescue boat that runs out of the Avalon Yacht Club, Avalon Mayor John McCorristin said.
