Auburn football made another staff change official Friday morning, hiring Chad Lunsford to be its new special teams coordinator. Lunsford spent five seasons at Auburn from 2009-13 as director of player personnel and director of scouting.

Chad Lunsford, who was in an off-field role for Auburn football from 2009-12, is returning to the Tigers as Hugh Freeze's special teams coordinator in 2025.

Auburn is honing in on their next special teams coordinator, as the Tigers are expected to land Chad Lunsford to fill the role, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports/247Sports. He was previously a head coach at Georgia Southern,

Lunsford brings a wealth of coaching experience to the Plains. He served various roles at Georgia Southern from 2013-21, which included a four-year stint as head coach of the Eagles’ program. During his time as head coach, Lunsford led Georgia Southern to 28 wins and two bowl victories.

Auburn is expected to hire Chad Lunsford as special teams coordinator, Auburn Live has learned. Lunsford spent the last three seasons at Florida Atlantic as special teams coordinator and tight ends coach.
