Pasadena police have identified the suspect as 83-year-old Dennis Erwin Brandl Jr., who was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The incident happened Saturday, Feb. 1 at around 6 p.m. at the Texas Color Guard Circuit Drumline Competition. Pasadena police said the suspect, now identified as Dennis Erwin Brandl Jr., 83, entered the school through a back entrance and fired at least one round from a handgun, injuring one man.

According to police, Brandl left his home in Spring and entered Pasadena Memorial HS and fired at least one shot at a male victim. Angleton ISD confirmed the victim was a technical consultant for the high school drumline. When shots rang out, several parents jumped into action to stop Brandl.
