MONTMORENCY COUNTY, MI -- State wildlife biologists have freed a black bear that had a plastic lid stuck around its neck.

Wildlife biologists first became aware of the bear with a lid around its neck in 2023. They’d been searching ever since.

The bear had “significant scarring and an abscess on its neck,” according to a June 18 news release.
