The on-to-the-future Rockies released left-handed pitcher Austin Gomber \-\- the last link to the 2021 trade of star third baseman Nolan Arenado to the Cardinals. On Sunday, they will officially call up righty McCade Brown from Double-A Hartford.

The Rockies have released left-handed pitcher Austin Gomber, who went 0-7 this season over 12 starts with a 7.49 ERA. Gomber was part of the blockbuster trade that sent Gold Glove 3B Nolan Arenado to the Cardinals in 2021.

On Friday afternoon prior to their series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Colorado Rockies announced that they have unconditionally released left-handed pitcher Austin Gomber. Gomber, 31, was the final player with the Rockies that was part of the trade that sent third baseman Nolan Arenado to the St. Louis Cardinals prior to the 2021 season.
