Construction is underway in Fontana on a memorial to honor all first-responders. The centerpiece of the memorial is a beam from the World Trade Center towers that fell in the 9/11 terrorist attack. The City Council accepted the beam from the San Bernardino County Professional Firefighters Local 935 earlier in June.

The Lake Fire near Silverwood Lake in San Bernardino County caused evacuations and a rapid spread to 478 acres.
