The Storm Prediction Center includes much of the area in an Enhanced Risk for severe thunderstorms on Friday afternoon and evening. Our far southeastern counties (shaded in red) are included in a Moderate Risk, indicating an even higher threat for severe weather.

The warm-up continues with a storm threat on the way for the Chicago area. A sunny and milder day is ahead on Thursday with highs in the 60s. A windy warm-up for Friday with highs in the 70s. A wind advisory has been issued for wind gusts over 40 miles per hour from 4 p.

A storm could move through the Chicago area Friday night bringing severe weather. Temperatures could reach the 70s during the day. Wind gusts could reach up to 50 mph Saturday with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 60s for the parade.
