Democratic allies and even some Republicans lobbied for the Trump administration to keep Barron in place, citing the state’s decline in violent crime during his tenure.

The Trump White House on Wednesday sent termination notices to several U.S. Attorneys around the country who had been appointed by Democratic President Joe Biden, according to an excerpt of an email reviewed by Reuters.

The White House has not coordinated the terminations with the Justice Department office that oversees the attorneys.
