With less than two weeks before Donald Trump takes office, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg announced a series of changes to its content moderation practices on Facebook and Instagram, including ending fact-checking and other restrictions.

These changes will affect Facebook, Instagram and Threads – three of the world's largest social media platforms with a combined user base exceeding three billion. In a video statement, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the fact-checkers "have just been too politically biased, and have destroyed more trust than they've created, especially in the US".
