An Israeli air strike killed four Palestinians in Gaza on Tuesday (March 11), the territory's civil emergency service said, as Arab mediators and the United States tried to hammer out differences between Hamas and Israel over a Jan 19 ceasefire agreement.

The fragile ceasefire has held since it began on Jan. 19, even as Israeli strikes have killed dozens of Palestinians. Israel says it has struck Palestinians who approached its troops, entered unauthorized areas or otherwise violated the terms of the truce.

The latest round of Israeli violence was accompanied by warnings about the spread of famine in the Gaza Strip.
