Job growth under President Donald Trump’s second term is being compared to past recessions, based on new data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In the last year, the United States created 181,000 net jobs out of a total of 158 million jobs.

U.S. employers added just 181,000 jobs last year, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said on Wednesday. That was 69 percent fewer jobs than its initial estimate of 584,000. The agency also lowered its estimate of job growth in 2024 by nearly 28 percent. In total, the U.S. economy has more than a million fewer jobs than previously reported.
