The splendor of "Les Troyens" promises to be on full-screen display when the Metropolitan Opera telecasts its production Saturday in "The Met: Live in HD" series to movie theaters around the globe.

Beyond the fact that the cast is huge, however, (the opera house were fielding the largest number of extras ever), there is little about the story that makes the work anything but a joy to follow.
