Blizzard conditions and wind gusts exceeding 70 mph are expected in coastal North Carolina as a winter storm approaches this weekend.

We are expecting several inches of snow in parts of the Upstate areas of South Carolina, as well as parts of North Carolina.

The snow is falling and sticking to roadways across the Triad, so drivers should be cautious if they have to be on the road on Saturday. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, troopers received 216 calls for service and responded to 176 collisions across the state between midnight and 9 a.m. on Saturday.

An “intense” band of lake effect snow was falling across the Chicago area late Friday morning, with a new winter storm issued for parts of Cook County and the National Weather Service warning of low visibility and “locally dangerous travel” as bursts of snow continue.

Snow began to fall across the Lowcountry on Saturday afternoon as a winter storm pushed across the state. While officials encouraged people to stay home because of
