A weak cold front is rolling through the region, bringing light rain across San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties before moving into Los Angeles County in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

A rare sight in California - a tornado - slammed a Pico Rivera neighborhood early Thursday during the state’s latest storm. The tornado, which happened between 3 and 4 a.m., lasted two minutes and moved at 85 mph in the city in southeastern Los Angeles County,

NWS says the tornado happened around 3:15 a.m. in Pico Rivera, lasting about two minutes and reaching peak winds of 85 miles per hour.

A new wildfire was reported today at 8:30 p.m. in Los Angeles County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. Currently, there is no data indicating the containment progress of the fire and its cause remains undetermined.

Los Angeles County is included in a wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 7:49 p.m. The advisory is valid from Monday 2 p.m. until Tuesday, Mar. 18 at 9 a.m.

At 1:59 a.m. on Sunday, the NWS Blacksburg VA issued an updated wind advisory in effect until 2 p.m. The advisory is for Surry, Stokes, Wilkes and Yadkin counties.
