The Tamagotchi is now available in 16 of the original styles (eight styles for each generation available) including translucent blue, purple and pink, mermaid, and green glitter.

To put that into context, the Tamagotchi was sold for just $17.99 in 1997. The new Tamagotchi brings that price back down to $13.55 (1,500 yen) but is only available for now in stores in Japan.

In 2017, Bandai marked the 20th anniversary of the Tamagotchi with a miniature version of the electronic pet. Now, the company is hoping to capitalize on '90s nostalgia by re-releasing the original.
