Police said it all started from a traffic stop in downtown Commerce turned into two high-speed pursuits topping 100 mph on Sunday.

UGA football player Nyier Daniels and his mother were arrested after a high-speed chase in Jackson County; police say Daniels fled at over 100 mph through downtown Commerce before turning himself in.

Georgia has opened as a slight betting favorite over Alabama. The Dawgs have opened as a 1.5-point favorite, according to Fan Duel. The over/under for the game has been set at 47.5 points.

Nyier Daniels is facing felony charges, including fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and two counts of second-degree cruelty to children.

Commerce Police Chief Jeff Drossman says an officer pulled over Daniels’ mother for running a stop sign when he sped past, going more than 100 miles per hour. The posted speed limit in that portion of downtown Commerce is 25 miles per hour.

The Georgia Bulldogs have officially punched their ticket to Atlanta for the SEC Championship game following the Texas A&M Aggies' loss.
