The Dallas Mavericks didn't surprise the NBA by trading Anthony Davis, but they did surprise everyone by sending him to the Washington Wizards.

Davis only made nine starts last season after arriving in the much-maligned trade that sent fellow All-NBA star Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 2, 2025.

The Washington Wizards stunned the sports world with a massive trade on the same day the Washington Post gutted the sports desk that normally would’ve covered it.

The troubled Washington Post has begun implementing large-scale cutbacks, including eliminating its sports department and shrinking the number of journalists it stations overseas.
