Former Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) reported to prison Friday afternoon, officially capping off the New York Republican’s dramatic rise-and-fall in politics that saw him ascend as a GOP trailblazer before plunging to disgrace.

Ex-Rep. George Santos, a Republican who was convicted of identity theft and wire fraud, reported to prison July 25 to begin his 87-month sentence.

Santos pleaded guilty in August, admitting to a series of schemes as he ran for elected office, including submitting fraudulent campaign finance reports and stealing from his donors' credit cards.
