The second murder trial of Karen Read, who is accused of causing the death of her Boston police officer boyfriend, entered Day 2 as witness testimony resumed Wednesday.

But as the trial is getting underway, it’s clear that the new prosecutor, Hank Brennan, is using those very same interviews and Read’s own words against her. Some of the interviews were done before the first trial last year. But they were not played for jurors then.

After opening arguments from Read’s defense attorney Alan Jackson and the Commonwealth’s special prosecutor Hank Brennan, a key witness was called to the stand.
