Seven people were shot at what downstate Mt. Vernon police described as a "non-sanctioned event" attended by more than 100 to 150 people.

Demonta Woodward, 24, and Zomarrius Williams, 20, were among the seven people shot early Sunday morning during a gathering.

Police identified two of the victims on Sunday night as 20-year-old Zomarrius Williams, of Mount Vernon and 26-year-old Demonta Woodward, of Mounds, Illinois. Police also identified one suspect as 22-year-old Jerria Smith. Investigators say their investigation is ongoing and more arrests are likely.
