Snow continues to fall in parts of the UP and northern Michigan as frigid air moves in.
There are 15 counties in Michigan under winter weather alerts because of a chance to get up to 12 inches of snow.
A lot of snow, rain and cold weather await travelers for the rest of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, with winter storm warnings posted Friday across the northern part of the country and more snow falling over the Great Lakes region. Storm warnings and advisories extended from Montana to New York, the National Weather Service said.

The snowstorm scheduled to develop today is right on target. There are just a couple of small modifications to the overall Michigan snowstorm forecast. The first addition is winter storm warnings have been also issued for the Sunrise Side shoreline from Saginaw Bay north to Alpena and Rogers City.
A winter storm is set to move into Michigan Saturday afternoon, and it is expected to drop five to eight inches of snow across much of southeast Michigan by Sunday morning.
