Bruins can’t catch Lightning twice in a week, with disastrous second period their undoing
For the second straight game the Bruins couldn’t overcome a dreadful period — this time it was the second — and lost to the Lightning, 6-2, Saturday night at TD Garden. Boston was outshot, 20-0, in the second period and fell behind, 4-1, in falling to 30-30-8 on the season.
Bruins embarrassed by lack of fight in lopsided loss
BOSTON — The fans were mad. The Boston players were embarrassed and the Bruins moved further from a playoff spot and closer to the end of a rough season. In the pothole-marked road to this point in the season, there have been many candidates for the worst game of the season, but Saturday’s 6-2 loss to Tampa was in contention for the Bruins.
