Police are investigating the shooting of a man on a Downtown street Wednesday afternoon. According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, just after 4 p.m., an officer from the Downtown Public Safety Center heard a gunshot in the 400 block of Smithfield Street.

PITTSBURGH — A teenager was shot in Downtown Pittsburgh Wednesday afternoon.

A teenager was shot in the stomach by a stranger in the middle of the day in Downtown Pittsburgh on Smithfield Street on Wednesday afternoon. Police are currently questioning the shooter after they were taken into custody, but some want more police patrolling the area.

A 21-year-old is in custody and a 17-year-old had to be taken to the hospital after a shooting on Wednesday afternoon on Smithfield Street. KDKA's Jennifer Borrasso has the story.

Pittsburgh police responded to a shooting Downtown Wednesday afternoon. Emily Bourne, a police spokesperson, confirmed that one person was shot. Police have Smithfield Street blocked off between Forbes and Fifth avenues.
