President Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” which narrowly passed through the House of Representatives early Thursday morning in a 215 - 214 vote, includes an increase to the SALT — State and Local Tax — deduction, quadrupling the cap from $10,000 to $40,000 and phasing it out for incomes over $500,000.

House Republican leaders released a new version of President Donald Trump’s massive tax and spending bill with a higher limit on the deduction for state and local taxes and other changes in a bid to win over warring GOP factions to support the legislation.

Republicans’ tax-and-spending cut package faces a number of hurdles in its path to President Trump’s desk, but the state and local tax (SALT) deduction cap could be the tallest to surmount.
