Ed Sheeran has been announced as a surprise performer at Radio 1's Big Weekend. The Shape of You star will be playing on the New Music Stage on Saturday afternoon. After rumours of a "big name" guest circulated around Sefton Park in Liverpool, Radio 1 posted on their Instagram that it was "the one and only" Ed Sheeran.

Music fans are gearing up for a bank holiday of bangers as BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend kicks off the summer festival season. Big Weekend is the station’s flagship live music event bringing some of the biggest UK and international artists to cities which may not otherwise host such a large scale event.
