Metreweli will assume office as the spy agency's 18th chief, taking over from Richard Moore, who held the job for five years. She has been an intelligence officer since 1999.

A British secret service has announced its first ever female chief with Blaise Metreweli being confirmed as the head of MI6. Sir Keir Starmer announced on Monday that she will take over from Sir Richard Moore with the prime minister saying that the UK faces an “unprecedented scale” of threats.
