Dutch opposition parties are calling for fresh elections as soon as possible, a day after anti-Islam lawmaker Geert Wilders sparked the collapse of the country’s four-party coalition government.

The far-right Party for Freedom (PVV) is leaving the Netherlands’ government over its policy for asylum-seekers, its leader Geert Wilders said on Tuesday, toppling the governing coalition.

Prime Minister Dick Schoof resigned on Tuesday after Geert Wilders' right-wing party left the government coalition.
