Max Verstappen was beaten by more than quarter of a second by Oscar Piastri in Q1 for the Spanish Grand Prix, but team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the headline-maker on Saturday afternoon, setting the slowest time of the session to qualify 20th and last.

McLaren might well be the ultimate outlier here though, as both Mercedes and Alpine announced their new front wing designs at Imola, via the car presentation document and have used them thereafter.

McLaren has still dominated in Barcelona with Oscar Piastri taking pole position for Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix.

Lando Norris can retake the Formula One championship lead from Oscar Piastri in Spain this weekend but both said Max Verstappen remained a threat and the battle was not just a duel between McLaren teammates.

There are just four engines on the grid at this point, supplying the 20 drivers, but there are plenty of changes expected come 2026. F1 cars in 2025 run hybrid V6 engines, and in 2026 the V6s are due to remain, but with big changes.

With all three practice sessions done and dusted, the F1 teams and drivers now look ahead to qualifying: Will Max Verstappen nab pole, or will a McLaren do the honors? If the three pactice sessions are anything to go by,
