Lawyers for President Donald Trump and California Gov. Gavin Newsom are set to face off Monday to determine whether the president violated a 147-year-old law when he deployed the National Guard to quell anti-immigration enforcement protests in Los Angeles – against the wishes of the governor.

Newsom and the State of California filed suit against Trump, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and the Department of Defense over the National Guard being sent to the state to quell protests over immigration raids.

California Governor Gavin Newsom is calling on the federal government to disclose how much American taxpayers paid for the Trump administration’s controversial deployment of the National Guard in Los Angeles earlier this year.
