A death investigation is underway in LaSalle County after a house fire on Thursday morning. According to police, deputies responded to a call for shots fired just before 1 a.m., and found a house on fire.

A series of lightning strikes near the home came as a line of severe thunderstorms rolled through the Kansas City metro overnight.

Firefighters said they arrived at the home in Pine Hills Wednesday night and found flames shooting from the roof.
