Canadian wildfire smoke returns, bringing haze to Michigan. As of July 25, advisories are in effect for the U.P. and northern Lower Peninsula.

At 12:40 p.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service issued the alert for Midland, Bay, Saginaw, Huron, Tuscola and Sanilac counties, warning that fine particulates in the air are expected to spike into the “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” range through 12:45 p.m. Friday.

The extended forecast suggests unsettled weather midweek, with rain probabilities ranging from 30% to 60%. There is some uncertainty about the exact timing and placement of the rain, but meteorologists anticipate widespread cloud cover and precipitation potential Wednesday through Thursday.
