Mother Nature's Fourth of July fireworks are starting early Friday afternoon and could last into the evening as severe storms develop across northern Minnesota. At 2 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a severe thunders storm watch from the eastern Dakotas all the way across the northern third of Minnesota.

Forecasters say some of today's thunderstorms may pack a big punch, with winds strong enough to damage trees and power lines.
