The San Francisco 49ers held their first padded practice of training camp on Monday, and they have three young players standing out so far.

During a press conference after Sunday’s practice, San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said it is “always scary” to see a player leave the field on a stretcher but said Jackson was conscious and had movement in all extremities by the time he was taken away.

The best competition might be at safety, where Jason Pinnock, Ji'Ayir Bown, Richie Grant and Marques Sigle are vying for two starting spots.

Tarron Jackson, a defensive end seeking a roster spot with the 49ers, was placed on a backboard and hospitalized after a hard collision during Sunday's practice.

Tuesday’s practice leads into the final day of a four-day stretch on Wednesday. Practice begins at 9:15 a.m. Arrowhead Time. Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo will address the media following the practice as linebackers sign autographs.
