Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s two-year state budget proposal seeks to get more high school students to stay in Ohio for college through increased scholarship funding. But overall funding for the Ohio Department of Higher Education dips in the second year of his plan.

Gov. Mike DeWine’s newly unveiled state budget plan would drastically raise taxes on sports gambling that could help fund a new Cleveland Browns stadium, pump more money into K-12 schools and offer more state help to parents with children.

DeWine is calling on the legislature to double the tax rate that those operating Ohio's sports book pay on their profits after all winnings are paid.
