FSU started Joey Volini on Friday, allowing Jamie Arnold an extra day of rest after being scratched from his start last week. Volini struck out 11 in seven innings of work in his start last week. On Friday, he struck out eight and the Seminoles hit four home runs to win 8-2.

The No. 4 Seminoles (15-1) are coming off a 7-2 defeat to rival No. 7 Florida on Tuesday. The Eagles (7-6) enter flying high, having beaten Merrimack College of Massachusetts 10-5 to follow an upset series win over No. 20 Virginia last weekend.

No. 11 FSU softball team opened ACC play with an 8-3 win over the Pittsburgh Panthers Friday night at JoAne Graff Field in Tallahassee, Florida. The Seminoles improved to 23-5 with the in and have won their last three games.
