New York Mets slugger Juan Soto seems to be catching fire at the plate. His two-run bomb against Clayton Kershaw during the Mets' June 3 game against the Los Angeles Dodgers marked his third home run in his last four games.

With Juan Soto’s lack of production becoming increasingly obvious, the Mets outfielder felt the need to speak out and address his struggles in an attempt to quiet the growing criticism surrounding him.

Standard stats show that Soto slashed .234/.364/.430 with a .794 OPS, 10 homers and 28 RBI over his first 59 games after he signed a 15-year, $765M contract to join the Mets this past offseason. That said, Petriello noted that nothing among Soto’s underlying numbers indicates the 26-year-old is somehow in decline while in his prime.
