Two men are in custody after authorities said a noise complaint led to a gun and drug bust in Orangeburg County.

A noise complaint led to the discovery of illegal drugs and firearms and the arrest of two men, Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said Tuesday.

Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old Afghan national who also was shot, made his initial court appearance by video from a hospital bed.

In 2018, seven inmates were killed and over a dozen more were injured during a violent incident at the same prison.
