The 95th All-Star Game will objectively go down as one of the most epic and memorable, one that began with the sport’s most promising pitcher of the future dialing up the fastest strikeouts for a starter in Midsummer Classic history.

McKinstry, Detroit’s do-it-all utility man, has been named to the American League All-Star team as a replacement for Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena. He’ll head to Arlington as a reserve infielder, adding one more piece of Tigers blue to a team already stacked with Detroit talent.

The Tigers last had three All-Star Game starters in Pudge Rodriguez, Placido Polanco and Miguel Cabrera in 2007. They could have as many as four.
