No injuries were reported after the boat struck a jetty and the people, all wearing life jackets, escaped into the water, the head of the Avalon Beach Patrol said.

The rough seas caused the sailboat to get out of control, crashing into the rock and causing it to start sinking.

Members of the Avalon Beach Patrol and Avalon Yacht Club rescued 10 people who fell overboard when their boat hit a jetty in Avalon, NJ, officials said.
