In his 159th career plate appearance, the 26-year-old Fermín smacked a sinker over the left-field fence off Jesse Chavez (0-1) with Masyn Wynn on base to cap the scoring.

The Braves beat the Cardinals for the 1,000th time but trail by 106 wins in the all-time series — with 18 ties.

The Atlanta Braves came out ahead in the weekend’s three-game series, claiming a 6-5 win Friday night and a 7-6 win Saturday, but falling 5-3 on Sunday.

Its Friday, July 11 and the Braves (40-52) are in St. Louis to take on the Cardinals (50-44). Grant Holmes is slated to take the mound for Atlanta against Matthew Liberatore for St. Louis.
