Texas flood at Camp Mystic prompts summer camps to enhance weather monitoring and communication tools as more camps seek accreditation for improved safety standards.

At 5:31 p.m. on Saturday, the NWS Raleigh NC issued a flash flood warning in effect until 8:45 p.m. The warning is for Alamance, Guilford, Orange and Person counties.

“If you’ve never seen water rise in front of you in minutes, it’s hard to conceive of how quickly that can happen—and how quickly your life and property can be at risk,” said Rachel Hogan Carr, executive director of the Nurture Nature Center, a nonprofit focused on flood-risk communication.
