From Texas to New England, millions of Americans are facing dangerously hot temperatures that have led the National Weather Service to issue heat advisories and extreme heat warnings this week.

On Friday, the felt temperature of heat combined with humidity, known as the heat index value, could reach 105 degrees, which would trigger an extreme heat warning, the outlook said.

Thursday is a NEXT Weather Alert Day due to the extreme heat throughout Southeast Michigan.

Additionally, flooding has been reported in the Leech Lake to Iron Range region of northern Minnesota due to multiple rounds of heavy rain, according to a post by the Duluth National Weather Service....

Precautionary measures provided by NWS include drinking plenty of water, staying out of the sun and staying in air-conditioned rooms.
