FALL RIVER — The nine residents killed in a fire here at Gabriel House, an assisted living residence, are being remembered as fonts of knowledge and symbols of longevity.
Harford County Circuit Judge Paul W. Ishak sentenced Bobbie Sue Hodge, 66, to a total of 180 years in prison — 40 years for each of four counts of first-degree felony murder and 20 years for three counts of second-degree assault.
The fire happened at a home on Debra Drive in Smyrna just around 1 a.m. Thursday. When crews arrived, they found large flames shooting from the roof. According to fire investigators, the blaze started in the basement, where crews found hobby rocket fuel and equipment.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police fire marshals. Four people were taken to the hospital overnight following a house fire that broke out in Dunbar Township, Fayette County. The fire broke out along Miles Road just before 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
