The US is in touch with both India and Pakistan in a bid to de-escalate tensions in the wake of April 22, Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir which claimed 26 lives, even as Pakistan continued ceasefire violations along LoC for fourth consecutive night.

The Taliban government condemned the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir and assured India of closer cooperation against terrorism. The move signals rare alignment between India and Afghanistan against Pakistan-sponsored militant groups.

India has halted all trade with Pakistan in response to Pahalgam terror attack. The move has escalated tensions between the two countries. India has closed the Attari-Wagah border and the decision is expected to put on hold the cross-border trade of Rs 3886.
