Republican Maine state lawmaker Laurel Libby is asking the US Supreme Court to ensure sure her votes are counted in the next legislative session of the Maine House after she was censured for expressing opposition to transgender athletes competing in girls sports,

Republican state Rep. Laurel Libby, who was censured after she posted a photo identifying a high school transgender athlete, sought a fast-tracked appeal after a federal judge denied her request to immediately restore her ability to vote and participate in floor debates.

Maine state Rep. Laurel Libby said she will file an emergency appeal with the Supreme Court over lawmakers' decision to censure her for a post on trans athletes.
