FOX Weather Correspondent Robert Ray reports from Swannanoa, North Carolina, to share the latest conditions in the area.
At 6:58 p.m., a severe thunderstorm warning was issued in east-central Wake, northeastern Johnston, Nash, and eastern Franklin counties. It came a minute after the NWS said a severe thunderstorm was located in Elm City, eight miles south of Nashville, moving northeast at 50 m.p.h.
Forecasters warned of flash flooding through midweek, including areas of North Carolina still battered by Hurricane Helene.
While the rain conditions in Onslow County seem to be in better condition, not too long ago residents were facing road closures and ankle deep water. Off and on
