The state is in critical fire danger because of “extreme high temperatures” that forecasters say will last for an extended period across the Northwest.

Gov. Tina Kotek declared a state of emergency in Oregon on July 16 that will last through end of the year due to the imminent threat of wildfire.

Sky Lakes is the only hospital in a 10,000-square-mile area in south-central Oregon and northern California and serves more than 80,000 patients. In addition to its 127-bed main hospital facility, Sky Lakes operates multiple primary and specialty care clinics in the area.

The Cram Fire, burning about 20 miles northeast of Madras in central Oregon, has grown over 40,000 acres and is zero percent contained.

Wildfires were seen in Jefferson County as the County Sheriff’s Office posted a video of a firefighting helicopter dropping water with smoke rising in the background.
