The Avs acquired forward Danil Gushchin from San Jose in exchange for forward Oskar Olausson
DENVER — The Colorado Avalanche traded forward Oskar Olausson in exchange for Danil Gushchin from the San Jose Sharks. The Yekaterinburg, Russia, native has appeared in 18 career NHL contests with the Sharks from 2022-25, totaling five points (2g/3a) since making his debut on April 1, 2023.

While Gushchin is one year older at 23-years of age, both he and Olausson have three years AHL experience under their belt. Gushchin was a third round San Jose pick and both players spent a year in the OHL before beginning their pro careers.
But at the AHL All-Star break, San Jose was last in the 10-team Pacific Division with a 14-22-7 record. Injuries to the Sharks and Barracuda have thinned out both team’s rosters to some degree.
