LANSING, MI — The latest Trump administration move to cut congressionally-approved spending threatens millions in research funding to state universities, said Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, who joined counterparts in Massachusetts and Illinois in a lawsuit attempting to block the cuts.

The Michigan AG's Office sued over a policy change that cuts reimbursements to universities for overhead costs related to biomedical research.

A coalition of attorneys general sued the federal government Monday, claiming that the $4 billion in cuts would “grind to a halt” studies on cancer, heart disease and other conditions.
