Humphreys's execution was put on hold last year after his lawyers argued that the two parole board members had conflicts of interest because they had played roles during his trial. A judge ultimately ruled that one of the board members, Kimberly McCoy, a victim advocate with the Cobb County district attorney's office at the time of Humphreys's trial and assigned to work with the victims in the case, should recuse herself.
